MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Edgewater Park Township Special Education Parent Advisory Committee is to provide a forum for enhanced communication among parents of students with special needs. Focusing collaboration with the intent to provide students with an individualized education in a safe, caring, and supportive environment.

The committee will seek to accomplish this mission through ongoing communication activities to promote parent knowledge of state/federal regulations, district programs/services and community resources. Furthermore this committee will advise the district in the provision of ongoing parent training opportunities in all areas of special education that promote effective parental support for their children’s special needs.

ORGANIZATION

The organization of the Parent Advisory Committee is based on parent volunteers of students with special needs that is reviewed on an annual basis and members added or changed as necessary. The members of the committee meet three or more times per year to act in an advisory capacity to the Child Study Team Office and perform other functions as needed.
