Every Student Succeeds Act
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015, also know as the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), recognizes that all children can achieve the same high standards when taught by highly qualified teachers using proven methods in an appropriate learning environment. The goal of this act is to provide educators assistance in planning and implementing programs that are designed to close the achievement gap between disadvantaged students and their peers. The New Jersey Department of Education administers funds under ESSA through a consolidated grant application process to local education agencies (LEA). The Edgewater Park Township School District is a participating LEA working on behalf of students residing within our community.
This act was reauthorized in December 2015 and is now referred to as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and has taken the place of NCLB. This is the most recent reauthorization of ESEA.
The New Jersey Department of Education administers funds under ESSA through a consolidated grant application process to local education agencies (LEA). The Edgewater Park Township School District is a participating LEA in ESSA.
